First Light is a center for homeless women and children located in the heart of downtown Birmingham. It is the only emergency shelter in the area accepting homeless women and homeless women with children 24 hours a day.

The Leeds Welfare Cooperative has as their mission: “A hand up, not a hand out.” The cooperative distributes food from its pantry, prevents utility services from being disconnected by paying on past-due utility bills, purchases prescription medicines for individuals, and provides clothing.

Leeds Presbyterian Church is blessed to be part of a ministry in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico through Christ for Children International (CFCI) with Felicia Cooper. Felicia is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and is a graduate of Beeson. She served as a graduate assistant to Dr. Kurt Selles while at Beeson.

Leeds Presbyterian Church has pledged prayer and financial support to Felicia while serving in Mexico. She will be teaching two adult classes in the winter and spring.
